Days 15-17: Tiger Blood (Mostly)

If you aren't familiar with all of Whole30's terminology, you may be wondering what I mean by Tiger Blood in the title of this post. Allow me to quote The Whole30 for a moment.
"Tiger Blood means you woke up feeling like someone flipped a switch and turned on the awesome. Your energy is through the roof, cravings are under control, clothes are fitting better, workouts are stronger -- you feel unstoppable!" (pg. 38)
I have to say that on days 15 and 16, I was absolutely feeling the Tiger Blood. I had SO much energy. I woke up around 4:45 or 5:00 am on both days, and I wasn't even groggy when I got out of bed. (I got around 6.5 or 7 hours of sleep the nights before for context.) Then throughout the day, I never felt a "crash," I was just on the go all day long. It was awesome!
However, day 17 was not as awesome as the days before because I didn't eat 3 full meals on day 16 or on day 17, and I could definitely feel it.
Lesson = Eat all 3 meals. Being tired isn't fun.
Day 15! (HALF-WAY DAY! WOO HOO!)
Breakfast – 8:00 am
2 fried eggs, sweet potato “home fries,” and roasted green bell peppers
Lunch – 11:45-2:00 pm
Gazpacho (around 11:45 am)
Chili (around 2:00 pm)
I was trying to get so many things done at one time that I just didn’t catch a solid moment to sit down and eat lunch all at once. The chili and gazpacho both came from The Whole30, and they were both wonderful!
Snack – 4:00 pm
Blueberries and strawberries
Dinner – 8:15 pm
Twice baked potatoes with salsa and guacamole
When I was scooping out the potato to mix it with all the other awesome ingredients (ground beef, cauliflower rice, etc.), my potato skins completely fell apart. #fail So, while tasty in the end, these were definitely NOT pretty.
Day 16!
Breakfast – 8:30 am
Iced coffee from Starbucks, with Califia Farms almond milk, no sweetener
Leftover fried eggs, sweet potato home fries, and roasted green bell peppers
I didn’t mention this under day 15, but I really enjoyed this breakfast! I will most likely make it again.
Snack – 3:30 pm
Apple with almond butter
As you can see, I didn’t have lunch today, which is definitely why day 17 suffered. Right after this snack, I went to BodyPump.
Snack 2.0 – 6:00 pm
Cashew Cookie Larabar
After BodyPump, I had volleyball, and I didn’t really have time to eat a full meal beforehand.

Dinner – 8:45 pm
Leftover chili
Sautéed mushrooms
And for day 17...
Breakfast – 8:30 am
2 hard-boiled eggs
I 100% should have eaten more for breakfast. I got lazy the night before with my morning meal prep.
Lunch – 1:30 pm
Leftover spaghetti squash with meat sauce
Sautéed zucchini
Handful of blueberries
Snack – 5:15 pm
Blueberries
Almond butter
And then… I curled up in bed, dozed off, and ended up sleeping for the rest of the night. I woke up a few times to put something else on TV, but I know I was super tired because I just didn’t eat enough the days before. (As a side note, I had fully intended to get back out of bed and make dinner, but that didn’t happen… #oops.)
And finally, here is what I did to exercise over these three days!
Day 15 – SoulCycle (at 5:30 am!)
Day 16 – BodyPump followed by a double-header for sand volleyball (#wonbothmatches)
Day 17 – SoulCycle (again at 5:30 am)
I would also like to mention that as part of "Tiger Blood," I definitely felt like those SoulCycle classes were much easier than they usually feel. I also lifted more weight than ever before while we were working our back at BodyPump!
That's all for now! Bye!
