Days 10-12: Dreaming of Sweets

Let me start off by telling you about a dream I had last night. I can’t remember all of the specifics except for the fact that I could fly. (I often fly in my dreams, and that’s how I know I’m dreaming in my dream.) Anyway, amongst all the flying, I had eaten a variety of candy bars. I think they were Kit-Kats, but I’m not 100% sure on that. I remember my dream-self trying to pretend like I hadn’t actually eaten them, and my dream-self was totally guilt-ridden over said candy bars.
In the Whole30 book, it explicitly talks about days where you dream of junk food, and you either A) feel really guilty about dreaming about it or B) wake up and laugh about it. I think I must be somewhere in the middle as I did find it funny once I woke up, but dream Natalie felt awful about cheating on the Whole30.
I can officially say there’s no turning back now. I am committed to the 30 days. The real-life guilt would be too much.
Here’s a recap of day 10.
Breakfast – 7:30 am
2 scrambled eggs with Califia Farms almond milk mixed with leftover Brussels sprouts
Avocado with pepper
Lunch – 12:00 pm
Salad from Salata topped with salmon
I found that Salata carries a compliant dressing! Their lemon vinaigrette, while it does contain canola oil (not the best oil on the market), is Whole30-compliant. In addition, their salmon is prepared with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and that’s it! So their salmon is also good to go for Whole30.
Snack – 3:00 pm
Handful of plain cashews
Black and green tea, no water, no sweetener from Starbucks
Dinner – 7:45 pm
Filet prepared medium-rare
Side of broccolini and asparagus
Sewell and I went out to eat for this meal since he was leaving the next day for Hong Kong and Thailand. Lucky…
Oh, and I realize the broccolini and asparagus look very similar, but I swear they're different.

And for day 11...
Breakfast – 8:15 am
2 scrambled eggs
Mixed berry RXBAR
Passion and green tea, no water, no sweetener from Starbucks
An RXBAR for breakfast would not have been my first choice, but I babysat from 8:30 – 12:30 pm, so my cooking time was very limited.
Lunch – 2:15 pm
Small handful of blackberries and raspberries
Leftover shrimp, zucchini noodles, and yellow squash noodles with a tomato-based sauce
After lunch and babysitting, I was EXHAUSTED. Seriously, insert every synonym for the word exhausted in its place, and it still wouldn't do it justice. I was supposed to go out and meet friends, but I ended up passing out from around 3:30 – 8:15 pm. I’m attributing my insane exhaustion to my first full week back at work after summer break and not to the Whole30.
Once I got up, I really needed to move. I ran a quick mile around the neighborhood and came back and cooked dinner.
Dinner – 9:00 pm
Walnut-crusted pork tenderloin
Side of pan-roasted butternut squash with olive oil, salt, and pepper
This day was not necessarily hard for me, but I was acutely aware of all of things that I was choosing not to eat. I was very aware that I couldn't just demolish a pint of Halo Top or drink a glass of wine (or 2).
And day 12. By far, this was my WORST day of eating nutrient-dense, wholesome meals. Judge me. Shit happens.
Breakfast – 9:30 am
2 blackberries and 4-ish raspberries
I wouldn’t really call this breakfast. As you can see, there is no protein, no healthy fats, etc. I was just really wanting to get my grocery shopping done before the stores got crazy, so I bolted out the door without a proper meal.
Lunch – 11:45 am
Leftover pork tenderloin
Side of sautéed mushrooms with garlic salt, pepper, olive oil
Dinner – 7:15-10:00 pm
Cherry pie Larabar
80% of a Chicken Sriracha EPIC bar
This is definitely not a meal either, BUT I GOT TO SEE JOHN MAYER, SO WHO REALLY CARES?!

Day 10: I did not work out. Meh.
Day 11: I ran a mile. Not my best, but at least I did something.
Day 12: I completed this HIIT workout before I had to get ready for the John Mayer concert.
Here's to hoping I stop dreaming about candy and ice cream in the near future...
